#FlipkartKids: Shopping for kids has never been this easy

Birthdays and Diwali were two of most favourite days in the entire year when I was a little kid. Both these days one thing; mommy would take me out shopping and I would get to pick up one new dress and sometimes if I was lucky, a new toy, too.

I had limited choice as we would always go to the neighbourhood uncle who never seemed to have too many options. I recall those days with a smile when I see my niece’s face crunched up in concentration as she tries to choose what she really really wants to buy. Should she opt for the cute Chota Bheem huggable toy or should she buy the latest mechanical car.

A cute skirt or jeans in which she can play cricket? Lego set or a set of pretty colours?

As she sits scrolls through the Flipkart’s Li’l Stars store, I can’t help but wonder how kids shop nowadays. They have a mind of their own and they love to have multiple options. Shopping in a mall can very tedious especially when you have to go from one store to the other to check out different brands. Flipkart is ushering in a new change in this particular arena. And in order to know more, I attended the #FlipkartKids Indiblogger meet last week.

I entered Blue Frog happily chit chatting with fellow bloggers as we discussed our expectations from this meet. I was personally curious to know meet the big brands in the world of kids shopping like Mattel, Chota Bheem and Disney as they discussed their ideas while working on toys and clothing for kids.
After grabbing a drink and some food, we bloggers participated in a  conversation with Kalpana Behara on “Questions and debates in the mind of a parent blogger” where many mommies shared their experiences of online shopping. One comfort that online shopping offered was the easy returns and this definitely appreciated by one and all. I particularly enjoyed the anecdote shared by Ekta as she told us how her niece would place a COD order and would them convince the family to pay for her favourite toy.

Flipkart also wants all kinds of toys available for children in India and they are soon going to have an option where parents can buy international toys and get it delivered in a few weeks. I can definitely see mommies all over India rejoicing about this.

After a lively discussion, all the bloggers were divided into teams so that we could come up with a unique ad for #FlipkartKids. Team three became the Flipkart Santas and we had a fun time enacting and singing our jingles.

We then gathered around for an Indi Group Photo and as we were about to leave Flipkart decided to surprise us with cute Chota Bheem plush toys. The minute I reached home, my niece jumped on my lap, hugged the toy and screamed “Miiineee!!!” J
