Remaking the world

If I were the creator of the universe, the first thing that I would do is smash the Earth into smithereens. As maniacal as it sounds, I need to destroy something before I create a new world; a place full of possibilities. Slowly, when the right time comes I would gather everything together  and rebuild the world the way it was originally meant to be.
I would create varied species who would be able to communicate with each other so that they could live in harmony. They would have the knowledge of science and technology yet would use it sparingly so that nature could take its course. They would have an important choice; they could decide when they would like to leave this world. This would extinguish a fear from their minds forever giving them an opportunity to pursue happiness as they want. They would have the complete freedom to do as they please but they would be sensible enough not to act as an obstacle for other’s progress.
They could reach out to me whenever they would like because I would be omnipresent and omniscient. There would be no “invisible God” in whose fear they would live. Rather, they would be my friends who could call me for a chat and perhaps a cup of coffee whenever they needed me.
Males and females would have equal physical strength and both of them would have the capacity to bring a li’l one into this world. They would equally share the responsibility of the child and bring him or her up to be a free thinking individual.
Everything in nature would be freely available thus giving all the individuals to be their best without being restricted by the drudgery of day to day living. All my children would start off at an equal footing and would go as far as they so wished.
In the end, I would bless them with this, “My you dance in the rains without a care in the world and jump to reach for the sky all your life. May you always have green grass beneath your feet and the company of your loved ones all your life. May you have the wisdom to do the right and never stand for the wrong even as you try to choose the correct path for yourself. May you always have a smile on your face, friends to enjoy an easy laugh and music to uplift your heart. May you have infinite hope, peace and love for as long as you choose to live on this beautiful home that I have created for you”

A Klutz’s guide to decorating a cake

The best thing about being a klutz who is about to decorate a cake is that whatever the end result is, people will love it. After all, they seen you add water and oil together in the pan and then try to cook food in it. Anyway, yesterday was the last time I could call my self a dashing 22 year old girl. I wanted to do something special and try my hand at something different. So, I decided to decorate my own cake.
Now, decorating a cake is not all that difficult but when you are in the middle of nowhere with no baking supplies available in the 50 km radius, there is very little you can do. I looked at the meager ingredients I had and said in Barney ishtyle. “Challenge accepted!”
Here’s what the cake looked like after I spent two hours on it.

So how can you make it? Let me share my recipe with you!
First you need to chop some dark chocolate in a bowl and keep it aside. Next take some Amul Low fat cream and bring it to boil. Slowly add the chocolate to the mixture till it melts completely. You can also add a little sugar if you find the ganache to be a  little too bitter.

   
   
Next, take a spoonful of Bourvinta and mix it in hot water. You should ideally be using cocoa powder but since I did not have it, I had to make do with this. I had bought a cute heart shaped cake from the market and I sliced it in half sideways. Yes, it was uneven and I managed to spoil the shape of the heart completely. But hey, it was my birthday cake and I didn’t mind. You should consider being a little careful 😛

Anyway, I spread the Bournvita water mix on to the cake so that it becomes a little moist. Next, I wanted to have a little filling between the two halved. I took some Oreos and crushed them with my bare hands. Yes it was a painful experience to see the love of my life in bits and pieces but it was necessary. Sighing heavily, I poured some of the ganache into the mixture and pade a nice gooey paste, which I spread over the bottom half.

  

The I tried to, as evenly as it was possible for me, spread the ganache all over the cake and cut Kit Kats into halves which I placed around the edges. I used Cadbury Shots to decorate the edges and I placed three Oreos to complete the circle. I fashioned a small piping bag out of a plastic bag and made cute little squiggles all over. 

Now it was time to worship my cake. I know it is not perfect, nor it is made very neatly. I did not use anything fancy to make it but you know what? Yeh cake tedha hai par mera hai. I love it!
