When I decided to #StartANewLife

I have always been a pampered little princess ever since I was a child. I would get throw tantrums about not liking the food or sulk in the corner when I would not get my favourite book to read. Things changed when entered Junior College. Everywhere I went, I saw that there were people who had more than me, better gadgets, better clothes and the best of everything. I was insanely jealous of it; I wanted all that and more, too. But my family was a typical middle class family and they could not afford to buy a 10k phone just because I fancied it.
That’s when I decided to #StartANewLife. Writing was my passion and I always dreamt of becoming a great writer some day. I realized that I could use this talent for mine. I started working with various content writing forms. Initially I was paid peanuts. Rs. 30 for a 500 word article. But as my experience grew, so did my salary. Finally, there came a day when I started earning five to six thousand every month.  I was on cloud nine. The first few months I had a wild time. I shopped on a whim, bought expensive things and went to the best of restaurants. I was really pleased with myself. But slowly, I got bored of it. I wanted more, much more. Content writing started losing its charm and I was tired of writing about inane things.
That’s when I decided to start blogging. I spent one year looking for the perfect name. I started two blogs and closed them down because there just not me. Finally one day as I was travelling from Kalyan to Sion, a name struck me and I was elated.

I started my blogging journey slowly. Initially I could barely write one or two articles per month. I started entering blogging contests and I tasted my first victory by winning movie tickets. I started experimenting with new niches. I strived to create a lifestyle blogzine that would have a little of everything; from my ramblings to make up trips and book reviews. 
 
After completing 1 year and 10 months of blogging, I can truly say that I am a changed person. I’ve had the opportunity to interact with some wonderful people, learn about new things and grow as individual, too. I have managed to improve my writing and communications skills and I must say that when I mention (read: brag) about my successful blog during job interviews, people are truly impressed. I #StartedANewLife and became a hard working girl from a spoiled princess. What about you?
 

Happiest Hair in the world!

My hair has always had a mind of its own. On good days it behaves badly and looks all messed up but on bad days it is at its worst behavior. Basically, no day was a good hair day for me. I had learnt to keep peace with this and found solace in best friends; colour hair bands. 

At the same time I broke up with my curlers, hair straightener and my stylist. There was no point of me being friends with them if my hair would misbehave all the time. 

There was a time I was seriously considering chopping them off and opting for a bob cut


My life was black and white with the only specks of colour being scrunchies and bands.

But then Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition came along in a bright yellow and green bottle and told me that it could make my hair behave. “There is nothing in the world that can make my hair behave” I proclaimed. But Garnier merely smiled and said, “Challenge accepted”

Its weapons were a combination of Coconut, Almond Oil & Olive that had  a triple action formula that nourishes & strengthens hair from root to length to tip.
My hair merely shrugged and said “bring it on”

And so the attack began!

 My hair went from frizzy and damaged to manageable. Instead of ignoring my hair, I could now experiment with a little. Even my ponytails started looking decent and I began to smile. From champu chameli hair I had not-that-bad-looking hair.


Day 8 to Day 15

Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition continued its magic and now my hair started looking way smoother than before. My hair fall started reducing substantially. I could now try a different hair style

I even took a selfie with my favourite product!


Day 16 to Day 21
I was sceptical now. Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition had already done something amazing for me. What else did it have up its sleeve? Could my hair’s condition be improved any more?


Day 22 to 30
I achieved hair nirvana! My hair fall reduced, my hair was longer frizzy, it would not get tangled up every 30 minutes, my scalp was healthy, I could style it anyway I want and my splits reduced. I was on top of the world!!!

I could now saunter out of the house leaving my hair open!

I even became friends with my curler. J


My overall experience with Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition

I must say that the results have been miraculous to say the least. My hair feel soft and silky and definitely way stronger than it was before. As for the hair growth, I cannot really comment on it as I think I should wait for some time to see the overall effect. My hair fall is reduced and my scalp is healthy as well. Thanks to Garnier, I truly have the happiest hair in the world.

Munni reviews Asus Zenfone 5 in her ishtyle!

I’ve been floating on cloud 9 since the past few days ever since I’ve got the Asus Zenfone 5 for review. Nowadays, I happily browse through it, check all its features and the camera of course and make notes about it. That’s what I was doing last night, too but then a thought struck me. What is the point of telling my readers about its specs?

I could yap and write a longish paragraph and tell you that it is powered by dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 with a decent battery and good sound quality. I can sing praises about its 8MP PixelMaster camera, Corning® Gorilla® Glass, GloveTouch and the new ASUS ZenUI but what good would it do to you. I will sound just like any other reviewer in the world. That is why; I am going to review  #MyAsusZenFone Munni ishtyle!

Ramayana the Game of Life- Shattered Dreams: Book Review

I am reviewing a book after so many days. This time it is mythology, something that I rarely read. Have a look at what I thought about the book. 🙂

About the book
Shattered Dreams is the sequel to the national bestseller, Rise of the Sun Prince, in the new spiritual and motivational series Ramayana – The Game of Life. Twelve joyful years have passed in Ayodhya since the wedding of Rama and Sita at the end of Book 1.
Now, in Shattered Dreams, Shubha Vilas narrates the riveting drama of Rama’s exile. Through tales of Rama’s unwavering and enigmatic persona, the book teaches us how to handle reversals positively; through Bharata’s actions, it teaches us to handle temptation; and through Sita’s courage, to explore beyond our comfort zone. This complicated family drama provides deep insights on how human relationships work and how they fail.
My review
Shubha Vilas had  sent me an autographed copy of the first book but to be frank, I never got around to reading it. One of my friends borrowed it and I forgot to return So without reading the part 1, I was a little apprehensive about reading the second part of the series. But I must tell you that you Shattered Dream can be read on its own without the reader feeling that he or she is missin out on something.
This book revolves around Dasaratha’s dreams which eventually lead him to make a decision to give his throne to Rama, Manthara’s careful planning to influence Kaikeyi and the pain that Bharata goes through once Rama leave Ayodhya.
One interesting aspect of this book is the foot notes that add insightful remarks about the events that are going on. They give you a new dimension to think about thus making the reader look beyond the story of Ramayana. You learn about the characters in greater detail and realize that everyone has their own flaws and redeeming qualities.
The story flows beautifully and I particular admire Shubha Vilas’ narration. I have one grouse; the typos! It is a shame that such a beautifully written book was not edited carefully. I know many people are of the opinion that small mistakes here and there can be overlooked but not me. For me, reading a grammatically incorrect sentence is very jarring, especially if it is followed by something eloquent.
That being said, one cannot take away the credit from the author for providing the nuggets of wisdom and giving the reader food for thought. This book will definitely delight any mythology lover and if you are one, then I seriously recommend that you buy a copy for yourself right away.
