Why Should You Insure your Car?

My car symbolizes freedom because it was the only big purchase I made for myself after my first job. It made me feel all grown up and I would love to zip around the town to show it off to one and all.

I have to say that my car is dearer to me than all the other things I have ever bought.

One important lesson I learnt early on that I would virtually get a heart attack every time my car got a teeny tiny scratch and that is why; it was prudent for me to invest in car insurance.
After spending days on the internet, trying to figure out what is the best for my baby, I came to one conclusion. Given the risks we put our cars at, and the advantages of the Bharti AXA car insurancepolicy, it is only wise for one to take a better scheme which offers more benefits to the insured car.
Over and above the damage cover, third party liability, and personal accident cover facilities provided by any ordinary policy cover, the Bharti AXA car insurance policy offers customized add on covers which can be purchased based on the particulars of a car, its age/usage, and the location.
Among the key Add-on covers are the Depreciation Cover which provides up to 100% coverage on certain parts of your car, and the Consumables Cover which covers regular costs that are otherwise not covered. Bharti AXA car insurance recommends these add-ons if you own a car less than 5 years old.
The Road Side Assistance is of ultimate use to those who feel handicapped during untoward instances of a flat tyre, breakdown, out of fuel, or even when you cannot find the keys to your car, etc. This Cover is of great help for all car owners.
With increasing cases of cities and towns facing floods every monsoon, your car is no less susceptible to get sick as are you. If your engine catches contact with more water than it normally can do with, it is prone to get sick and damaged. A standard insurance policy wouldn’t cover such repair or replacement costs. Keeping in mind that repair costs are very high, Bharti AXA car insurance brings to you the Hydrostatic Lock Cover which covers costs incurred upon damage caused to the engine due to rain water.

I think it is safe to say that I am going to put my trust and invest in car insurance and I am sure it will protect my darling car better than anyone else.

With Vodafone’s dynamic features, fun is always on!

What if I were to tell you that from now on the way you use the internet is going to change forever? That you could take a data loan from your BFF when you were out of money at the end of the month? Or the fact that you could call your friends at 20p per minute so as to not miss out sharing even a single moment of fun? I know I know, when I first shared this exciting piece of information with my friend, I got a sardonic-oh-yeah eyebrow lift. But trust me, all this is true!
Vodafone, which is one of India’s largest mobile networks, has come up with some astounding first of its kind in India fun features and to tell me a little more about it, they invited me for an evening out with 3 Youtube stars who have made this fabulous video. Before I gush all about my evening, I am sure you will all be excited to know what Vodafone has in store for all of us.

A separate day and night data allowance package:
Being an ullu or somebody who cannot sleep before 3 a.m. I love the idea of having a separate day and night package. Most of my best ideas come after twilight and I end up having some of the most interesting conversations with my friends around this time. I love the fact that I can surf all I want at a great price!
3 buddy lifelines
I can take to my three best friends at a highly discounted rate ensuring that they never miss a moment in my life and I, too, get to know the hilarious going ons of their lives.
Take some data on loan

Now I can take a loan of 60MB of data for 2 days from buddies to help me through the last few days of the month when I am usually broke. This is by far my favourite feature!
Music, always on
I have never liked the idea of downloading pirated songs and to appease me, Vodafone is now going to allow unlimited free music downloads for a period of 2 months. And do you know which song that I am going to down first?

Well, the one made by 3 Youtube superstars, Raftaar, Kanan Gill and TVF. I had the opportunity to see their performances live at the Hard Rock Café and you can now view, too!
I must say that Vodafone is definitely living up to its tagline of #FunOnWithU and we consumers are going to have a blast enjoying their stupendous services!

GAIL Indian Speedstar on the hunt for the next PT Usha!

While I have always been really bad at running, I was unusually enthusiastic about the sport. What fascinated me was the fact that you need not master an external prop; be it a football or the cricket bat to perform well. It all boiled down to the natural talent you had and the amount of hard work you put into practice. I grew up hearing the exploits of PT Usha and Milkha Singh and praying to God to give me that speed that would stun my competitors. My childhood dreams soon vanished to be replaced with something else but the thought remained with me. Why, in the last 24 years of my life, I haven’t heard of another truly great Indian Speedstar. A woman or a man who truly took our breath away with her or his running abilities. The fact of the matter was, in India, all sports (besides cricket of course) were not given the support they so required to realize the potential of the youth.

Which is why; GAIL (India) Limited has taken up on itself to identify India’s next Speedstar with its grassroots athletics program GAIL-Indian Speedstar. GAIL (India) Limited and National Yuva Cooperative Society (NYCS), launched this program on the 22nd of March, 2016 in New Delhi. The sole aim of this program is to identify talent in the young men and women in the age group of 11 to 17 years and to nurture it.

The program aims to create a pool of athletes with knack which will possibly bring honor for India in track events at the highest echelon of sporting events – the Olympics 2020/2024. Something that I am definitely rooting for! But who are going to select the possible set of the millennium Olympians for India?

The most famous names in the sporting world of course! P.T Usha, Rachita Mistry, AnuradhaBiswal & Kavita Raut have been appointed in the selection committee to support selections and guide coaching camps. After its launch, the GAIL- Indian Speedstar has already conducted initial in 55 districts across 10 states in which more than 25,000 children participated out of which 850 children made it to the State level! It is very heartening to know that

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon. Minister of State, Dutee Chand, AnuradhaBiswal and Purnima Hembram also decided to participate in this program to select ambitious young athletes from Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The first State level camp and trial was organized in Jaipur (4 selected) followed by Odisha (14 Selection), Delhi (28 Selection), Kerala (28 Selection) &Jharkhand(4 Selection) Maharashtra and Gujarat in the last week  of April.  The shortlisted children from the State trials are going to go all the way to Delhi to participate in the National camp and selection at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The top 9 athletes who will then be selected would be provided with a world class coaching for over a period of 5 years with an ultimate objective of one of these athletes to represent India at the Olympics. I am going to have my eyes peeled to the track events in Olympics 2020 as I give a big cheer to our GAIL India Speedstar.

#SaathHaiHum with Finolex

When I was a kid, I always believed that little fairies worked in supermarkets when the world slept to stalk it up with delicious fruits, veggies and grains. Sure, my teacher did try to convince me that food actually came from seeds that were painstakingly sown by people but I never bothered to believe. It was only in 3rd standard, when we had a own project to grow a plant of our own did I realize the wonders of nature.

Why am I telling you this story? Well, every night when we sit in front of the TV and enjoy a hearty meal, do we stop to consider, for even a minute, where this food comes from? Do we stop to think that there are thousands of farmers across India who are working hard to ensure that we get our meals on time? Well, I bet you would say no. Have we ever had the opportunity to interact with a son or daughter of the soil who works all day in the heat and cold to produce food? I bet you would say no to this too.

Which is why; Finolex decided to do something about it.

What was their core idea you ask?

Well, Finolex Pipes believes that as a nation, rural or urban, rich or poor, we’re all Indians. As Finolex Pipes works through cross sections throughout India uniting one another, we believe we are divided & this video states as a gentle reminder that by listening, conversing, communicating & forming the pipe line amongst ourselves, we can allow the love to flow.

What they did is they got a few city dwellers to interact with people from rural India to understand their lifestyle, dreams and aspiration. They gave people the opportunity to ask questions and also bust a few myths of rural India. And the result? This wonderful video that they have recently made.

I spent a few minutes watching this video and was truly enthralled. I love the men singing an old melody together and discussing their love for movies. I loved how a young woman told an office goer the typical day in the life of a Sarpanch. Hearing these heartwarming voices made me feel close to these wonderful, warm men and women. In the end, the video also gave an opportunity to the viewers to set up a conversation with someone from rural India and I was absolutely delighted. I sent in my details soon and sure enough within a day I got a reply saying that I would be talking to someone soon. And talk I did! I had a great time interacting with Mr. Kamlesh, a farmer from Gujarat and I am going to devote my next post to our conversation. Stay tuned guys!

Of superstitious dadis and my investment plans

As a child, my dadi would tell me not to whistle in the night because whistling would attract dangerous snakes that roamed around in the darkness. I was told not to cut my nails after dark, to not enter temples during my periods and to stay away from black cats. But when as a 15 year old I whistled long into the night, no snakes turned up. Instead my Dad turned up with a strict tone warning me that he’d throw me out of the house if I didn’t sleep and let him sleep in silence. I learned to love black cats, entered the gurudwara during my periods and I have always remembered to cut nails only in the night
By experimenting with truth I started observing the irrationality in many beliefs like astrology or numerology of which I used to be a fan of back in my college days. I knew one uncle who would always make investments if the name of the company was equal to 9 as per numerology. Sadly, I have never seen any of these investments succeed even after he did puja after puja and prayed to Goddess Lakshmi day and night.

These simple experiments can often help us act in line with the need of the moment.  This is especially true when we begin to start thinking of how to invest money. But sometimes we need an expert to help us find answers. Where does one look for solutions to those essential questions that arise in our mind about investing in the right place for it to grow with vigor.
Keeping the lack of easily accessible good fund advisors in mind, Birla Sun Life Mutual Funds brings to you http://www.janotohmano.com/ , an innovative online friend and guide helping you to understand the basics of investing in a fun way.
With the importance of the need to invest growing by the day, this initiative comes as a godsend. So start experimenting with #JanoTohMano today. Instead of getting caught up in superstitions and spending your money on blind beliefs, take your time to Test Your Mutual Fund Knowledge, play The Knowing Game, learn many Interesting facts, see how your money can multiply, and of course Ask a question.

Invest wisely with the right kind of knowledge; knowledge is after all power.
